Mother/Grandmother?, SOPHIA CATOR, Age 54 (born about 1796 in Maryland).
Mother?
MARY E. CATOR, Age 35 (born about 1815 MD).
Daughter, ELIZA CATOR, Age 20, (born about 1830 MD).
Daughter,
MARY J. CATOR, Age 13, (born about 1837 MD).
Son,  BENJAMIN CATOR, Age 12 (born about 1838 MD) 
Son? PRESTLY CATOR, age 4 (born about 1846 MD)

Mother? SOPHIA CATOR, Age 50 (b. abt 1810 MD),  Spinner, cannot read or write. Mother? MARY CATOR, Age 35 (born about 1825), no occupation, cannot read or write. Daughter, ELIZABETH CATOR, Age 18, (born about 1842).
Son,  BENJAMIN CATOR, Age 22 (born about 1838), Sailor        


        


KNOWN GENERATION #2:

BENJAMIN CATOR was born in Maryland to Maryland-born parents on June 30, 1868.  He married LAURA BADEN  1867. She was about 10 years younger than Benjamin as she was born in Maryland to Maryland-born parents around 1849 or 1850.  Laura Baden and family from the Aquasco District and Milingham, Prince George's County, MD.

1870 MD, Charles County, MD, 1st District, Page 17 August 1870: 

B C Cater/L (Benjamin "C?") age 31, farmer with personal property of $100
L (Laura) Cater, age 31 (b 1849), keeping house Note: BC and Laura Cater listed as "cannot read" "cannot write".
BB (Benjamin Baden) Cater is age 2   (b 1868)
MJ (Mary J.) Cater is 34 (b 1836)
Wm (William?) Cater is 2 (b. 1868)
Frank Cater is 22 (born 1848)
LNU age 26, male, farmer having personal property of $400.

1880 Census for Hill Top, Charles County, MD:

Dad,  BENJAMIN CATOR, is a "laborer" at age 42.
Mom,
LAURA BADEN CATOR is 30 and keeps house for the family.  
Son, BENJAMIN Baden Cater is 12 (b. 1868). 
        Note: He married MARGARET IRENE "Maggie" MINTO who was b.
Oct 9, 1869. 
Daughter, MARY CATER is 9 (b. 1871).

1910 Census for Washington, DC, District 79

Benjamin Baden Cator is a laborer for the government.  He and his wife, MARGARET IRENE MINTO CATOR, have 5 children, all born in DC, all living, in the 10 years they have been married. Their residence is 1309 South Capital Street in DC.

Baden (Minto) Cator age 7 (born 29 Sep 1902 in DC)
Clyde B. Cator age 6 (born about 1904 in DC)
Margaret "Maggie" Violet Irene Cator,  age 5 or 9 (born 23 Apr 1901 in DC);' died 12 May 1967 in Alexandria, VA.  Buried in Arlington, VA.
Walter Leroy "Reds" Cator age 4 (born 14 Feb 1906 in DC; died 19 Nov 1974 in DC)
Ross Cater age 2 (born about 1908 in DC).  

Note: Rootsweb lists baptism for a VIOLET IRENE CATOR:
"BAPTISMS Cator Violet Irene - bp 11/12/1901, b 4/23/1901; c/o Cator Baden & Maggie."   

MARGARET IRENE MINTO CATOR died Nov 22, 1946 in DC.  Benjamin Baden Cator died April 23, 1937 in  DC.  Both are buried at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.




GENERATION #4 WALTER LEROY "REDS" CATER:
Walter Leroy "Reds" Cator was born on Valentine's Day February 14, 1906.  
He married a Fannie P. ________ born on January 26, 1910. 
He died on November 19, 1974.
She died on March 26, 1990
Interred Ft. Lincoln Cemetery.

GENERATION #4 BADEN CATER:


1930 Census for Washington, DC

Baden Minto Cater (not Cator) is now married to Helen "Nellie" Jones .  They rent what appears to be an apartment or triplex in DC for $18/mo. Their address is 1007 B St. NE, in DC.  Baden is 26 and Nellie is 21.  They do not have any children at this time.  At right is a picture of Baden Minto Cater taken at the beach in 1963.==>

Note:  In the Washington Post, July 20, 1930, on pg 4, Births, Deaths and Marriages lists:
 BADEN M. and NELLIE V. CATOR, boy.

GENERATION #4 CLYDE B. CATOR aka BENJAMIN CLYDE CATOR,
brother of Baden M. Cater

Clyde B. Cater (not Cator) is now  26 (also!) and was  born on December 28, 1903 in DC; he married at 21 years of age to the then 15 year old Mary  Estella Chick.  She is now 21.  They have two children, Clyde E. who is 4 (b. 23 Feb 1926*) and Ruth who is 1 (b. 1929).  All were born in DC.  They live at 1129 NJ Avenue, SE, DC.   Note that in his obituary, Clyde B. Cater is listed as Benjamin C. Cater!  Mary Estella Chick is the daughter of Joseph E. and Sidney Chick of DC.  Her brothers are Joseph S. Chick, Arthur B. Chick and Charles E. Chick. 

*Per US Veterans Cemeteries, ca.1800-2004 on Ancestry.com: Clyde E. Cator was born on 23 Feb 1926 and died 22 October 2004.  He is buried at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery in Maryland.
