First Generation - Manuel & Kate Freitas, husband and wife, both 1st generation Hawaii-born to parents born in Portugal

MANUEL FREITAS married Catherine "Kate" LNU.  Per Census information, Manuel was born about 1885-1888 in Hawaii; Kate was born there also in 1889.  By the time Manuel was 42, Kate had died (between the 1920 and 1930 Census in Hawaii).

Manuel Freitas died in a fire (Note: May be news articles about this).  It is "said" that all his children, including Reynold Freitas (below),  were put in orphanages after the fire.

MANUEL and KATE had several children, all born in Hawaii:

MAGGIE FREITAS, born around 1906.

MARION FREITAS, born on 16 July 1907.  Marion died in July of 1974 in Honolulu, per the SSDI.

GEORGE FREITAS, born about 1908-1909.

FREDERICK FREITAS, born about 1910.

ANDREW FREITAS, born about 1911.

MABEL FREITAS, born about 1914.

REYNOLD BENEDICT FREITAS, born March 11, 1915.  REYNOLD died on November 12 in 1987 in Honolulu.  He married EMILY LNU

CLARENCE FREITAS, born about 1917; married MARION McIntosh..  Clarence was the godfather, dearly loved, of Genevieve Catherine Freitas Karasaki.

LAWRENCE "LARRY" FREITAS, born about 1918.

1910 Census:  Taken on April 26, at  Honolulu City, Oahu, HI at 1517 Luso Lane.  Manuel was 25 (born 1885).  They had 4 children, MAGGIE FREITAS (1906); GEORGE FREITAS (1908); MARION FREITAS, born on 16 July 1907.  Son Marion is listed as "Marianno".   And an Alfredo, age 1 (1909...could this be son FREDERICK FREITAS?)

1920 Census:  Taken on January 18, at Honolulu, Oahu, HI on 1539B Lusitania Street, where they rented their home.  Although unclear on the copy, it appears that Manuel was working as an engineer for a pumping station.  On this Census Kate was 31 (born about 1889) and Manuel was 34 (born about 1886)

1930 Census: Taken on April 15, at Honolulu City, Oahu, HI on 1649 Fort Street.  At this point, Manuel was now a widower, age 42 (about 1888). Only his three youngest sons were still living at his home:  REYNOLD was 16 (1915), CLARENCE 14 (about 1916), and LARRY12 (about 1918). MANUEL FREITAS was working as a truck driver for a machine shop.  None of his sons were working per this Census.

Second Generation - Reynold Benedict Freitas, husband
and wife, Emily

REYNOLD BENEDICT FREITAS, was born on March 11, 1915.  His wife EMILY* LNU of Hawaii did not work outside their home in Kapahulu, which overlooked beautiful Diamond Head.  Reynold died 12 Nov 1987 in Honolulu.

* Emily's Portuguese name was something like "Emalia."

Reynold was a memorable man loved by his family.  One of the tiny stories about Reynold was the way he would refer to people as "donkeys".  Should you drive down the road and someone cuts you off, his "What a Donkey!" would fit quite well.

Their children were:

GENEVIEVE CATHERINE FREITAS, born 8 Jul 1934, Hawaii; d. 30 Jan 1985, Hawaii; m. RICHARD JOSEPH S. KARASAKI, 6 Nov 1954, Hawaii; b. 14 Nov 1934, Honolulu; d. 11 May 1996, Kaiser Hospital, Hawaii.

ADELINE M. FREITAS, born in Hawaii December 7th, 1937.  She was just 4 years old when the attack on Pearl Harbor happened.  She died in Honolulu on January 5th, 1989 per the SSDI.

REYNOLD BENEDICT FREITAS, JR., born 3 Jun 1939, Hawaii; died 18 Sep 1998 per the SSDI.  Here is a picture of "Grandpa Reynolds."

Third Generation - Born in Hawaii
 Genevieve Catherine Freitas and husband
 Richard Joseph S. Karasaki

Genevieve Catherine Freitas married Richard Joseph S. Karasaki on November 6th, 1954 in Honolulu.  Genevieve was born on 8 Jul 1934 in HI and died there on 30 Jan 1985.
