Immigrant MARY MARGARET LISTON CATOR was born in 1856 in Ireland.   Her remains are supposedly  buried at Mt. Olivet in our nation's capitol,  located on Bladensburg Road.  Mary Margaret Liston Cator died sometime around 1896-97.

Soon after her death, he married his second wife, Charity Clifton and fathered their children Edward Cator (1899) and Mary Myrtle Cator (1901).  He also was the stepfather for Robert Clifton, Charity's son.  Click here for information on William and Charity Clifton Cator's marriage.

  • 1905 From the Washington Post on June 9, 1905:
It is interesting to note that Ellen Liston Edwards (Mrs. James Edwards) is Mary Margaret Liston Cator's sister.  Mary Margaret Liston Cator died in the late 1890s and her widowed husband William married his second wife, Charity Clifton, very soon thereafter.  To my knowledge the Charity and WIlliam Cator retained custody of their children/stepchildren.
